TeenTober: Freak Out at Your Library

TeenTober is a new, nationwide celebration hosted by libraries every October and aims to celebrate teens, promote year-round teen services and the innovative ways teen services helps teens learn new skills, and fuel their passions in and outside the library. TeenTober replaces YALSA's previous Teen Read Week and Teen Tech Week celebrations, allowing libraries the flexibility to celebrate all types of literacies according to their library's schedule. Library staff are encouraged to utilize this new celebration to advocate for and raise awareness of the importance of year-round teen services in libraries 

This year (2022) Bremen Public Library is celebrating TeenTober with the Halloween theme Freak Out at Your Library! With several Halloween themed events.  

Starting Monday, October 3rd-Monday October 31st. Students in grades 6-12 can sign up for our TeenTober reading Challenge. When you have signed up you will receive a punch card with 5 challenges. Each time you complete a challenge you get to choose a prize from the prize basket. Once you have you have completed all the challenges you will get to place your name into a drawing for the grand prize!  You can register at the front desk or the Young Adult Room.

October 4th from 5:00-6:30. Students in grades 6-12 are invited to join us as we celebrate National Golf Lovers Day! There is no registration required. Please come in groups no larger than 5. Each group will get a single putter and 5 golf balls. There will be 6 holes. 

October 11th from 5:00-6:30. Teens age 13 and up are invited to a SPOOKTACULAR viewing of A Quiet Place. Teens must be 13 years of age to watch the movie. Registration is required. To register please click here.

October 15th from 10:30-11:30. Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to a delicious Bookish Brunch for the belly and brain! Come talk about your favorite YA titles, and enjoy some delicious goodies! Registration required. To register please click here.

October 18th from 5:00-6:00. Students in grades 6-12 are invited to make a spooky new friend! Registration is required. To register please click here. 

October 25th from 4:30-6:30. "It's just a bunch of Hocus Pocus!" Students in grades 6-12 are invited to our Hocus Pocus Interactive Movie. Registration is required. To ensure you get an interactive movie bag register here. If the registration is full please note that you can still attend the movie. You just won't receive an interactive movie bag.  

November 4th from 4:00-8:00. Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to an after hours zombie-themed dance. At 5:00 PM lights will go down, the DJ will start playing music , and snacks will be provided. At 6:30, zombie competitions will begin. Students are encouraged to dress up. Students must sign in at the front desk prior to 5:00. If a student has to leave early for any reason, they need to sign out. Once a child has signed out of the program, they will not be allowed back in the building. They may wait in the lobby for their parent/legal guardian to pick them up. To register please click here.
